To boldly go....

Figured I'd blog about my phone, since I'm madly in love with it. Just got done installing various apps and patches, some of which might get me in trouble eventually if my carrier ever catches on. However, according to the new DMCA ruling I might not have to worry too much.

The phone itself is rather lovely (true multitasking, access to my entire social network, wireless chargine, etc). And is great right out of the box. However, I've recently become entangled in the forums dedicated to the Palm Pre and webOS. Now my Palm Pre Plus is able to do virtually anything (except for play Flash...bastards) that I ask it too.

I'm not too fond of some of the marketing (although this is pretty sweet) and naming of the features. Naming being the main gripe because my favorite feature shares the same name as a corporate buzzword...SYNERGY!

It's a great feature and the word is apt for such a feature. Everything works together, smoothly, and quickly for the most efficient and pleasurable experience one can have on a cellphone today. Soon it'll be beyond the cellphone stage according to Palm's new owner, HP, who is looking to put it on tablets and even filed for this little gem which probably means it'll be out soon.

Since I'm madly in love with my phone I decided to get some needed accessories today. Using my rebate check I ventured into Amazon and checked out the accessories after looking at similar things at another Palm Pre fansite's store. Needless to say, I love Hong Kong and dirt cheap electronics. MiniUSB cord for 86 cents AND free shipping?!?!?! Thank you broken trade system and third world labor practices!

With how often I use my phone and rely on it, I truly believe that PCs will eventually fade into the distance. Sure, workstations will be around for businesses and cubicles. However, cellphones are bridging the gap between phone and computer. Take a look at the Nokia N900 powerhouse specs. Pretty powerful for something in the palm of one's hand. Not to mention that it has a video out feature, can have a bluetooth keyboard hooked up, and runs a very potent version of Linux in the form of Maemo. I, for one, can't wait until the day when I carry my computer in my pocket and simply hook it up to a monitor and use my own foldaway keyboard to write this blog or random other crap on the internets.

Back by (un)popular demand!

Let's see...been a good 4 years since the last update. Got to enjoy the lovely new login process. Scary how big brother Google now logs me in and connects me to virtually every website. I think WebOS and the "Synergy" feature of my Palm Pre Plus might give it a run for it's money and even look better doing it.

Anyway, back to normal ramblings. Let's see here....

Cellphone in 2006: Nokia brick phone with CellularOne (gobbled up by AT&T shortly after it re-bought Cingular). Got the job done and could take a beating.
2010: Palm Pre Plus (AT&T). So complex I sometimes get confused and dropping it makes my heart sink. Plus it was extremely more expensive (both initial and plan) to own.

Car in 2006: Slightly modified 1991 Sentra SE-R. I miss it. :-(
2010: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Sucks down gas like no other.

Living in 2006: Dorms at Jesuit
2010: Wheeling Island...

I could go on, but I am already bored. So let's just make a quick list of everything that's happened in the last 4 years that was of significant importance for me in no particular order.

Dropped out of college, Moved into a party house with friends, lost virginity, death rocket (sentra) died, broke wrist, sold off most worldly possessions, grandfather died, mom's health failing, grew a beard, found self, lived with a junkie, went to Canada twice, enjoyed Atlantic City for a weekend, had money, flat broke, telemarketer, Magic: the Gathering, came out of shell.

That's all I can think of off the top of my crazed mind. Anyway, I'll be making regular updates on here since I think there might be one person who comes across this scribbling. Even if not, I'm sure Google is watching.
